On Thursday, March 9th, Willamina held a meeting with speaker Denise Bacon of the Ford Family Foundation. This meeting was to discuss ideas on how to make our community great and plan a regional gathering where we will learn how to implement our ideas in the community. Thursdays meeting was a collaboration of ideas with each participant contributing on what they want to see in the community.

Economics and food sustainability were leading topics being talked over. There was a variety of people from farmers to school employees. After some deliberation we decided our regional gathering topic would be a mixture of food and agriculture as it relates to economic development. Everyone agreed that change needs to start in our children and the new fiber optic installation is vital to the community.

Our regional gathering is set for May 20th. We hope to see a big change in our community, thanks to the guidance given by the Ford Family Foundation.
